HIST 4366: Childhood in America Research Guide

Search A&M-SA's Library Catalog

Catalog Search Tips

If we own the title, Texas A&M University-San Antonio Library will appear on the last line of the citation. The library's catalog also gathers titles that appear within San Antonio area libraries and throughout the world. These books will either have San Antonio Libraries or WorldCat Libraries on the last line. Any book that is tagged San Antonio Libraries can be checked out by using a TexShare card. For any book that is tagged WorldCat Libraries an Interlibrary Loan request can be made to get that book to the patron.

Finding Primary Sources in our Catalog

Many items in the library's book collection could be used as primary sources. These include books written in the time period you are researching. Search the Library Catalog using the Advanced Search and limit your results to include items published during a certain time period.

Another method to search for primary sources is to include some of the following words or phrases in your Library Catalog search.

sourcesdiaries or journalspersonal narratives, interviews ,or correspondence

** Remember, also look at the bibliograaphies and references of books to see what primary sources their authors may have used.
