Center for American Women and Politics
The Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP), a unit of the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is nationally recognized as the leading source of scholarly research and current data about American women’s political participation. Its mission is to promote greater knowledge and understanding about women's participation in politics and government and to enhance women's influence and leadership in public life.

National Women's Political Caucus of Texas
The National Women's Political Caucus -Texas is a state affiliate of the National Women's Political Caucus, which was founded in 1971. NWPC-TX is a multi-partisan organization open to all women and men.
United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women
In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. In doing so, UN Member States took an historic step in accelerating the Organization’s goals on gender equality and the empowerment of women.

Women in Congress
Since 1917, when Representative Jeannette Rankin of Montana became the first woman to serve in Congress, a total of 326 women have served as U.S. Representatives, Delegates, or Senators. This Web site, based on the publication Women in Congress, contains biographical profiles of former women Members of Congress, links to information about current women Members, essays on the institutional and national events that shaped successive generations of Congresswomen, and images of each woman Member, including rare photos.

Womenwatch is the central gateway to information and resources on the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women throughout the United Nations system, including the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), the United Nations Secretariat, regional commissions, funds, programmes, specialized agencies, and academic and research institutions.
World Bank: Gender and Development
The World Bank has created this site to distribute information about the economic development of women. Their point is that if societies want a fully developed economy women must fully participate within them.

Children's Defense Fund: U. S. State Child Data
CDF has a long tradition of using data to support its work to create a level playing field for all children and takes great care to ensure the accuracy of any data used or provided to others.

CDF is affiliated with the U.S. Bureau of the Census as a Census Information Center for data on children and families. In this role, CDF analyzes and disseminates Census data in a variety of formats to concerned citizens, advocates, policy makers and the media.

Using the Web

Things to keep in mind when searching the web:

Use websites only when appropriate and question their credibility. Remember, almost anyone can publish something online because it doesn't go through the same review process like books or articles.
Generally .gov, .edu, .org sites tend to be the most credible, though there are still exceptions. To limit your Google search to these domains, type in your search term followed by a colon with the domain name. Ex. population trends:.gov
When in doubt, ask your instructor if it’s okay to use a particular web source.
