October 2024 Hours and Events

Origins

The National Day on Writing® (October 20) is an initiative of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) that began in 2009.  It is built on the premise that writing is critical to literacy but needs greater attention and celebration.  Every year, using #WhyIWrite individuals are encouraged to share what compels them to write.

Looking for more ways to get involved?  Tell everyone why you write on the library's Instagram page, making sure to use #WhyIWrite.  Check out the NCTE's website for more options.
