UPDATING CASES, STATUTES, AND REGULATIONS

To "Shepardize" or update a case, statute, or federal regulation, click on the link that says "Shepardize this document."  While you can Shepardize some state regulations (like California's) in Nexis Uni, you are not able to Shepardize regulations for most states in Nexis Uni.

Shepardizing can help you determine whether or not your case or statute is still good law.

UNDERSTANDING SHEPARD'S SYMBOLS

It's important to know what the symbols for your case or statute mean.  Red and yellow symbols mean possible negative treatment (and/or pending legislation for statutes), so you want to be sure to look at your citing references carefully to make sure your case or statute hasn't been overturned, or will soon be changed.
