Nexis Uni

This Guide is here to assist you in navigating the new search features of Nexis Uni.

Search by Name or Topic

Search by Name or Topic

  • Enter the law's name, or your topic in the search box next to the red magnifying glass at the top of the page.
  • Click on the drop down next to “All Nexis Uni” in the top corner and choose Statutes and Legislation.

Note: multiple words in quotes will search for that phrase.

Search by Citation

Search by Citation

  • Enter the citation.
  • Click the drop down next to the search field, and choose Statutes and Legislation.

When entering a citation that has a "§" section symbol, such as 29 U.S.C. § 2601,
you can skip that section symbol.

Narrow your Results

It may be helpful to narrow your search results.  Once you have conducted your search, look for the narrow options on the left of the results screen.

  • You can limit the jurisdiction to U.S. Federal, or by state.
  • Once you choose the jurisdiction limit, you'll see available sources in that jurisdiction.

You can also find statutes from a specific state, by including the state name in your search (without having to narrow your search).
