Library FAQ

This resource is intended to help you navigate A&M-SA's library resources and your research process.

I Am Looking for a Specific Article

Search the Library Catalog

Most of our articles can be found by searching in the Library Catalog. You can search by title; if you know you have the exact title use quotation marks around it (i.e. "beard movement in Victorian Britain"). It may help to add the author's name if you are doing a general keyword search as well.

Find a Specific Journal by searching for the title.

If you don't find the article in the Library Catalog or Google Scholar, but you know the journal-title in which the article appeared, search for the publication in the Specific Journal tool. If you locate the publication, you can then search within it for the article.

  • Once you search for a specific journal, there may be multiple versions of the journal - some may be available electronically, and others may be available only in print. The record will indicate where the journal is located (e.g. through a database or in the library collection).
  • When you locate the journal title, look at the record for the publication dates for which the journal is available. Be sure the publication date of your article matches with the publication years listed.
  • Access the journal by clicking on the database name and navigate to the article you need.  If you're accessing the article electronically and don't see the full-text immediately, look for a search box to search by title.

Interlibrary Loan

If we do not have the article in our databases or print collections, you can request it through Interlibrary Loan. Do not pay for individual articles - you are already paying for access with your tuition.
